VINEYARDS
Quinta de Valbom de Cima
It is part of "Região Demarcada do Douro", located in the parish of Canelas about 5 km from the city of Peso da Régua.
Acquired in 1938 by António dos Santos Azevedo, it now belongs to his descendants, who are dedicated to the production of Douro Doc Wine exclusively for the "Bjá" brand.
The Vineyard
Its 7 acres of old vineyards are located on the right bank of the Douro River, systematized on 2-line levels, with a small portion arranged on the highest slope, consisting of the varieties Touriga Franca, Barroca, Roriz and Touriga with authorization to benefit the musts from thereby through the I.V.D.P. and classified by Federação dos Viticultores da Região Demarcada do Douro as Class "A".
Integrated Production
The vineyard being its exclusive culture, it is fully mechanized, and its production is managed according to "Integrated Production" principles, which in practice means restricting, as much as possible, the type and quantity of treatments applied to the vines for pest and disease control. Prevention is the key and, therefore, it is essential to rely on the employees of the vineyard to obtain the information. This feedback is used to perform risk analysis and identify potential threats to vines .
